First-run reality programming filled most of prime-time's holes Tuesday night. Here's a look at the ups and downs in D-FW.
NBC's two-hour combo of America's Got Talent and The Singing Bee narrowly won the 8 to 10 p.m. slot in the total homes Nielsens. But the Peacock ran second overall among advertiser-craved 18-to-49-year-olds to ABC's competing Just for Laughs and the finale of Shaq's Big Challenge.
On CBS, the latest chapter of Big Brother 8 ran a diminutive fourth from 8 to 9 p.m. in total homes while improving a notch to third place with 18-to-49-year-olds.
That left Fox's On the Lot with little. It again had Tuesday's basement Nielsens, drawing just 42,480 homes and 40,300 viewers in the 18-49 demo. In contrast, league-leading America's Got Talent lured 152,320 homes while the second half-hour of Just For Laughs topped the 18-to-49 numbers with 117,800.
Side note: One of America's Got Talent's 10 finalists, Cas Haley of Paris, TX, earlier performed a version of Fox4's Good Day theme song, which the station continues to play.
The local news numbers also came up big for Fox4. Its 9 p.m. newscast beat all network programming in total homes and ran a close second to ABC News' Family Secrets among 18-to-49-year-olds.
NBC5 and Belo8 tied in total homes at 10 p.m., with the Peacock prevailing among 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.
Fox4 again won in both ratings measurements at 6 a.m. and Belo8 returned to its accustomed winners' circles at 5 and 6 p.m. with first place finishes across the board.
