And in another D-FW newsroom shift . . .

Laura Thomas is the brand new weekend meteorologist at KNXV-TV, ABC’s Phoenix affiliate.

She left CW33 last month after joining the Tribune-owned station’s then new Eye Opener program in the late summer of 2011. Thomas, a Texas Tech graduate, arrived in Dallas after five years in Lubbock at Fox’s KJTV-TV, where she was chief meteorologist. On Saturday, June 29th, her first day on the air in Phoenix, the mercury hit 117 degrees.

Thomas’ former employer, Tribune Co., announced on Monday, July 1st that it’s adding 20 television stations to its arsenal. All of them currently are owned by Local TV LLC. None are in Texas.
