Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) nuzzles with third wife, Jane Seymour (Anita Briem), whom he'll wed in 2009's Season 3.

Two wives down, four to go. Showtime has picked up a third season its critically praised The Tudors, with plans to keep Henry VIII's marriages coming until he reaches his historical max.

"The Tudors is now a fixture for us at Showtime and we're on our way to completing the entire saga of all six wives of Henry VIII," network entertainment president Robert Greenblatt says. "There is nothing like this anywhere on American television."

Season 2 is still unfolding on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. (central), with Season 3 set to begin production on June 16th in Dublin, Ireland. It will include Henry VIII's marriages to Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleves, raising his total to four.
