American Idol: No more La

Bottom two: Blake Lewis and LaKisha Jones waited and hoped.

By ED BARK
Don't wanna hear it. La-la-la-la-la. La-la-la-la-la. But LaKisha Jones is out.

That ruins a big-belting, all-dreamgirls Final Three for American Idol, which instead will put "Beatbox" Blake Lewis in the company of Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks. He looks to be no real match for either of them, but squealing young girls also are natural born text messagers. So look out.

It's also time to recap Uncle Barky's original picks, both for Idol and Dancing with the Stars.

On March 8, with Idol's 12 finalists in place, Uncle went with a Final Three of Melinda, LaKisha and the long-gone Stephanie Edwards.

The pick to win it all, then and now, is Melinda. Jordin clearly is coming on strong, but Melinda can still work wonders with her innate likeability and blow-away pipes. Watch her come through in the clutch and give the show a glowing storybook finish.

On Dancing, Uncle nailed the Final Four after watching the first round of performances on the show's March 19 premiere. Laila Ali, Joey Fatone, Apolo Anton Ohno and Ian Ziering were the picks, and all are still standing. The choice to win it all, Laila, still looks solid, but Apolo clearly could knock her off. Most athletes take this competition very seriously. Exception: Clyde Drexler.

LaKisha reprised "Stayin' Alive" after joining Idol's dead Wednesday. But she'll be heard from again on a do-or-die debut CD. Ask Chris Daughtry. He found himself in exactly the same position at this time last year before eventually answering back with a chart-topper.

Also Wednesday: Could Lost's John Locke really be dead? Shot at close-range in the chest by sinister Ben, he seemed to expire in a mass grave at episode's end. But if Locke can regain the use of his legs on the island, then maybe his heart can restart, too.

Whatever develops, this was one helluva spooky episode that also flashed back to Ben's boyhood. With just two weeks to go before the May 23rd two-hour season finale, Lost has regained its firm grip. What happens next matters again.
