The personnel merry-go-around continues at Dallas-based TEGNA8. Meteorologist Wes Houx, who very much wanted to keep the job, has been dropped from the weekend morning news team after joining the station in May 2015 in place of Julie Bologna.

Houx confirmed that his last day at TEGNA8 was Sunday, Dec. 4th. His replacement, who’s already in house, is Kyle Roberts from Oklahoma City’s KOKH-TV, a Fox station. Roberts recently posted on his Facebook page that he’s joining TEGNA8 this week. The Texas A&M grad spent three years at KOKH after beginning his TV meteorologist career at NBC affiliate KETK-TV, which serves Tyler and Longview, TX.

Roberts’ new position will be full-time. Houx had sought a full-time position to no avail at TEGNA8. For a while, he also worked five days a week at Waco’s KCEN-TV, which also is owned by TEGNA.

TEGNA8 also recently hired meteorologist Jesse Hawila to replace weekend P.M. weathercaster Ashton Altieri, who left the station in August and now is with Denver’s KCNC-TV. Last month, TEGNA8 lost sports reporter Ted Madden, a 14-year veteran who excelled at covering high school sports.

The ABC affiliate went winless in the November “sweeps” ratings period for the first time in recent memory.
