Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Mon., June 25) -- bit of a budge for CBS11 waker-upper

By ED BARK
The Monday morning dawning of CBS11's new anchor team gave the station a bit of a ratings bump in its latest effort to blast out of last place someday.

Brendan Higgins and Adrienne Bankert drew 39,967 D-FW viewers in the most-watched 6 a.m. hour, up from 30,483 on the previous Monday. That was good enough for a rare third-place tie with Fox4 during a summer season when all of the early morning ratings are deflated due to school being out and vacations being taken.

In the key 25-to-54 news demographic, CBS11 made a slighter improvement, inching up to 13,770 viewers from 11,208 a week ago. But front-running WFAA8 more than quadrupled that number with 56,040 viewers in the 25-to-54 age range. WFAA8 also won at 6 a.m. in total viewers, with 67,741.

Monday's prime-time attractions were paced by NBC's America's Got Talent, which had 216,771 total viewers from 8 to 9 p.m. ABC's The Bachelorette was the top draw among 18-to-49-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for entertainment programming.

Over on Fox Sports Southwest, the Texas Rangers were kayoed early in their eventual 8-2 home loss to Detroit. The ratings responded accordingly, flattening out to an average of 162,578 total viewers. But Yu Darvish takes the mound on Tuesday night, meaning those numbers might double if he pitches well.

In Monday's other four-way local news derby results, WFAA8 won at 10 p.m. in total viewers while NBC5 topped the 25-to-54 numbers.

WFAA8 otherwise ran the table, with sweeps of the 5 and 6 p.m. competitions.
