Former WFAA8 traffic reporter Demetria Obilor issues a death threat tied to her missing weight belt

Former WFAA8 morning traffic anchor Demetria Obilor, who left the Dallas-based station in October to pursue other opportunities, may not have enhanced her prospects -- in the news business at least -- by posting a blunt, threatening video on her public Instagram account. It since has migrated to YouTube as well.

Clearly upset by the loss of her weight belt, Obilor vows to track down whomever might have stolen it.

“I have a very special set of skills,” she says. And I will find you. And I will kill you.”

Obilor, who has massive followings on both Instagram and Twitter, made a reputation at WFAA8 as a megawatt personality who had no hesitancy in showcasing both her body and her opinions. Soon after she arrived in October 2017 from a Las Vegas TV station, WFAA8 aggressively promoted and supported Obilor’s very public claims that she had been “body-shamed” in a Facebook comment.

Station manager Carolyn Mungo, who hired Obilor, gave her a fond farewell in a memo to staffers. “As we all know, Demetria took this town by storm almost immediately after her arrival,” Mungo said. “Her authenticity during a video response to viewer body shaming went viral. It solidified the fact that Demetria is her own person! And people watched.”

Mungo, who does not talk to this reporter, added that Obilor is “thankful to WFAA and the community for allowing her to be her true self, and to develop and prepare for what could be next. We all know traffic is rarely a life-long career! She says it’s time to explore. We wish her the best and will be cheering her on.”

Friction between Obilor and some Daybreak personalities also apparently became an issue, judging from a social media post that later was taken down but remains accessible in the unclebarky.com story on her departure. Obilor for now has returned to Las Vegas.

Here is the brief video, which ends with “And I will kill you.”
